Shine After School Club's staffing ratio for children attending its activities is set out in accordance with OFSTED regulations, for further details please contact info@shineafterschoolclub.com. There will always be a minimum of two child care qualified staff with current DBS certificates in attendance at the setting. All senior staff are first aid trained, have attended child safe guarding courses and many hold the specialist paediatric first aid certificate.

Children who attend the later session will be offered a healthy snack. The snack will consist of a combination of fresh and dried fruit, rice cakes, breadsticks and a plain biscuit. All snacks are nut free. Children will also be offered a drink of fruit squash or water. Shine's snack is NOT intended to replace your child's main evening meal but simply to provide a nutritious short-term energy boost.

Yes. But Shine politely request that parents are mindful of children with allergies and DO NOT prepare any nut based food such as peanut butter sandwiches.  If your child is bringing grapes, we politely request that they are sliced lengthways to reduce the risk of choking.

Depending on the club’s location, children attending Shine will be escorted from the school to the dedicated after school club area either by Shine staff or school staff or a combination of both.

Should a customer fail to inform Shine by email, text or telephone that his/her child/children will not be attending before the scheduled start time, the absent child will be deemed a ‘non-arrival’ and, in most cases, Shine will then implement its safeguarding procedure which involves an immediate investigation into the whereabouts of the child.

In this event, customers will not be entitled to a refund or credit and customers who have opted to pay cash on arrival/child care vouchers will be requested to settle the fee in full. Failure to do so may result in a suspension of their Shine account in accordance with the Late or Non Payment Policy.

Please ensure your child has suitable clothing and footwear for the sports activities provided by Shine. Unless advised otherwise, the standard school PE kit and training shoes will be adequate. However, it is IMPORTANT to note that shin pads will be required for any of the Shine football sessions.  Boots with metal studs are not permitted.  All sports equipment will be provided by the Club. Children will be provided with adequate clothing such as aprons during art based activities.

Late collection of children after 6.00pm.

The After School Club closes at 6pm across all of our sites. All children must be collected and leave the site before the Club closes. Whilst we appreciate that on occasion you might be delayed, there have been a number of incidents that have resulted in staff having to stay well after 6pm. In order to cover the additional costs of staff time for staying with the children beyond their contracted hours the following charging policy will apply.

Late collection charges

The after school club closes at 6.00 p.m. Any child collected after this time will be charged a late collection fee. The charge will be £1.00 per child every 2 minutes until 6.10pm. Thereafter, the charge will be £5 for every 10 minutes (or part thereof.)  The fee will need to be paid in full before the child attends the next session. On the first occasion the fee will be charged and the parents reminded of the importance of collecting their child on time. The incident will be logged.  Subsequent occasions will be logged and charged for and at the manager’s discretion, may lead to the suspension of the account with Shine.

Yes, children can attend any number of occasions from a one-off visit to every day.  In all cases parents will need to complete the Shine After School Club Registration Form in order that Shine have adequate contact and medical details on record.

If your child has a condition that requires medication this will be administered upon specific instruction by the parent/guardian, all medical conditions should be disclosed on the full registration/application form. Shine will always have one or more members of staff on site who are medically trained in administering First Aid should the need arise. Please note that Shine staff are not permitted to administer sun cream.

If you wish to be considered, please send your CV to recruitment@shinesportscoaching.com and we will match your skills to any relevant posts that may arise and invite you for interview. Please note we only consider applicants who can obtain/possess a DBS clearance.

Yes, all payment details are sent directly to Stripe. We never see any of this information. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor, and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available.

Shine cannot provide evidence of childcare for tax credit purposes.  Parents are advised to refer to the order confirmations emailed to them along with a record of cancellations.

The General Manager sends the registers to schools around lunchtime so if you make a booking around this time or later, you must call or text the manager of the setting to advise so that the school can be notified (numbers available on the relevant webpage)  A late booking (after midday on the day) may mean that we cannot guarantee your choice of activity due to ratios and staffing allocation.  We will do our best to accommodate but your child may have to join a different activity.

When a customer wishes to amend an order, he/she is advised to directly notify the relevant Shine staff member of the required amendment via email, text or telephone giving as much notice as possible. Please note that if a customer fails to request an amendment in advance, it is unlikely Shine will be able to meet the request. It will not be possible to swap a child into a session that is fully subscribed.

Each setting runs a robust signing in and out process for children under the care of Shine After School Club irrespective of which activity they are attending. Children attending Shine will be registered by the after school staff at the pre-determinded arrival point at the beginning of each session. Parents/carers must sign out their child when collecting.
